We will again be joining other schools in Vermont to celebrate International Walk and Roll to School Day and the National Safe Routes to School Program. This day celebrates safe walking and biking to school while also promoting physical activity.Buses will pick up students at their regular bus stop. Drop off will be at the two locations listed below. Buses will not drop off students at the school. Parents who usually drive their children to school should drop them off at one of the locations listed below.PK through Grade 3:¼-mile walk (15 min.) with car drop off between 7:30am and 8:00am and bus drop off at 8:00am on Nasmith Brook Road past the bridge and before the Twinfield driveway.Choices for Grade 4 through 12 are:¼-mile walk (15 min.) with car drop off between 7:30am and 8:00am and bus drop off at 8:00am on Nasmith Brook Road past the bridge and before the Twinfield driveway.Or,2-mile walk (1 hour) with car drop off between 7:30am and 8:00am and bus drop off at 8:00am at the Martin Covered Bridge.Or,3-mile bike ride (45 min.) from Plainfield with parent drop off at 7:30am at the railroad bed at thePlainfield Park & Ride.Or,4-mile bike ride (1 hour) from Marshfield with parent drop off at 7:30am at the Railroad Bed on Lower Depot Road. All walkers will be walking in groups called “walking school buses” with at least two adult chaperones. Walkers need to wear closed toed shoes. All bikers will also be riding in groups with at least two adult chaperones. Bikers need to bring their own bikes and helmets. Parents and community members are encouraged to walk and bike with us. We hope you can join us. For this to be a successful event, we need all students to participate.Note: School buses will operate on their normal schedule in the afternoon. Bikes can be picked up after school on the playground.
